Is this scientific?
No. It's a taste read built on a few well-studied preference patterns, for fun. It says which kind of scary story you reach for right now, not how brave you are.
Is this about how much fear I can take?
No. Both sides of every scale here are meant to scare you. It asks how the fear arrives, what does the haunting, and who or what is behind it, not how much you can stand.
What if my favorite scary stories have no ghosts or monsters?
Plenty don't. A stranger at the door can carry a whole episode, and that side of your taste shows up on the supernatural vs human threat scale. If neither ghosts nor monsters pull you, that bar settles near 50, which is a fair picture.
Where do the picks come from?
From the horror podcasts in our own catalog, a small shelf, well-known ones first. Our catalog marks which shows are horror, not how they deliver the fear, so the list is the same for every lean for now. Nothing is sponsored.
