Is this scientific?
No. It's a taste read built on a few well-studied preference patterns, for fun. It says which retellings you reach for right now, not how well you know the originals.
Do I need to know the myths?
No. Every statement is about what you enjoy reading, not what you remember. Plenty of people meet a myth for the first time in a retelling.
Will the picks match my answers?
Not yet. Only a few books in our catalog are marked as myth or folklore, so the list is the same for every lean: a mix of ancient sources and modern stories built on myth and folk tale. Nothing comes from outside that shelf, so the list can be short.
